The Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, has officially performed the commissioning of two blocks of classrooms and official pronouncement of St. George’s Primary School in Rayfield to a Junior Secondary School.

The pronouncement, made during a ceremony on Friday by the Commissioner for Education Dr. Mrs. Kachollom Gang, follows the completion of two new classroom blocks reconstructed by the local government council to meet the standards required by the State Government.

Hon. Silas described the upgrade as a fulfillment of a campaign promise made to the Top community, which had long sought a secondary school to reduce travel time for students. He expressed his personal commitment to the project, having graduated from the historic school himself, and pledged the Local Government’s continued support to ensure the school’s success.

The Commissioner for Education, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Sadia Ibrahim Yero, commended the chairman for pushing for the upgrade. She stated that the establishment of the school aligns with the State Government’s priority to make quality education more accessible.

The traditional leader of the community, the Gwom Top, HRH Da Cyril Chuwang Pam, expressed profound joy at the development and extended gratitude to the State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, for approving the school. 

In a related development, Hon. Silas has been commended for creating and upholding a cordial working environment across the Local Government. The commendation came during a town hall meeting with a committee set up by the State Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang.

The high level meeting featured testimonials from a cross section of leaders, underscoring the chairman’s inclusive approach. Those who spoke included the State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Davou Jatau, representing state appointees, Liason Officer Rt Hon Dalyop Fom Gwottson, the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Chomoshen Emmanuel, the PDP Chairman for Jos South, Hon. Ezekiel Choji, Elder Cyprian Dung, and the coordinator of all Wards’ Party Chairmen, Mr. Christopher Danboyi. All affirmed the cordial and productive relationship with the Executive Chairman.

After listening to the stakeholders, Rt. Hon. Istifanus Mwansat who is the chairman of the committee, commended Hon. Silas for carrying everyone along and promised to convey the positive findings to Governor Mutfwang. He encouraged all appointees to continue working diligently to ensure the success of the State Government. 

The committee’s purpose was to ascertain the relationship between the Executive, Legislative, and Party Structures within the Local Government.
